Dear Friends,

Long ago Solomon wrote, “Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed” (Prov. 15:22).  After learning the recent news of the territorial conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, our hosts counseled BrookLink to postpone travel plans to Armenia due to unrest and related to conflict with its neighbor, Azerbaijan.  Would you please pray for the 45 pastors who are disappointed that their training was cancelled.  And would you please pray for the 100,000 Armenian refugees forced to flee their homes. There are growing concerns of increased persecution toward in the wake of the conflict.

Terry and I are still planning to travel to Romania November 7th-16th.  We have been asked to minister to Romanian pastors and their spouses during these days. Thankfully, Romania experiences political stability along with steady growth in the Christian church, but many disciplemaking leaders lack training and equipping in their ministries.   Terry and I are excited to serve and outfit them, thanks to your incredible generosity!

One of our facilitators, Paul Sinclair, has been teaching the Old Testament Prophets at the Wisconsin Inmate Education Association’s (WIEA) 4-year undergraduate program at Fox Lake Correctional Institution.  Paul shares, “I have the privilege of engaging with seven men who are eagerly and with excellence pursuing their undergraduate degrees.”  Paul continues, “One of the men, Ronnie (name changed), is concluding his second year of studies and desires one day after his release to be a youth pastor in his urban context.” Please pray for Ronnie and the students in the program. Transformation is the goal, and Ronnie is experiencing that in his life within the walls of FLCI.

Please pray for Paul as he and his daughter, Kara Vermicek, and granddaughter, Ella, prepare to serve in Rwanda from October 30th-Novmber 11th.

Paul’s ministry for prisoners is extending across the Atlantic to Rwanda in a few weeks.  He will be involved in a men’s conference, serving men still grieving the trauma of the genocide and its intergenerational transmission. “Words like forgiveness and reconciliation are a living reality for these men. I am thrilled to connect with Prison Fellowship of Rwanda while I am in country and witness their remarkable social and spiritual healing ministry flowing out of the genocide.” Kara and Ella will be working with women and children.

Another BrookLink facilitator is also traveling overseas this fall.  Dr. Keith & Kerry Doyle will be traveling with a ministry team from CBC to train national pastors and ministry leaders in Turkey.  The church they are partnering with has planted 20 churches with a vision to establish Christian churches in each of the cities of the 7 churches of Revelation. They will be leading a conference to train dozens of the national pastors and ministry leaders of these churches in basic hermeneutics and an overview of how the pages of Scripture fit together in God’s Redemptive story.  Your prayers for fruitful church planting and growth are deeply appreciated!

Senior Pastor Keith and Kerry serve Calvary Bible Church in Neenah, Wisconsin.

Invitations to pour into disciple-making leaders for 2024 are coming in, and we are so grateful.  Would you please pray as we consider training in Liberia, India, Nepal, Uganda, Rwanda, and Vietnam.  We hope to reunite with old friends and seek where God would have us partner with new friends.  Thank you.

Every blessing,

C. Lee Heyward, Founder & CEO

Windows on Wheels was a blast at Meadowbrook Church on September 17th!  Thank you so much, MBC, for generously shifting your parking lot into a gathering space for fellowship and delicious lunch provided by Papa Alex Romero Taco Truck.
