“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” ~Isaiah 40:31

Dear Friends,

Like you, we continue to wait in the bullpen. It feels like a very long warm up period, and we’re ready to get the “game” restarted.  We remain hopeful for a return to travel soon.

God is faithful as we wait on Him. When I took on this role from a distance, the plan was that I would fly to Milwaukee for one week each month. That only took place for three months, and then the world changed. Here in Canada, the third wave of Covid19 is hitting us very hard. I remain in contact with our staff at BrookLink regularly by Zoom, but it’s far from ideal. Please pray for Lindsey, Becky and me.

Your prayers are appreciated for our book project for the Kale Heywet Church in Ethiopia. Three titles are in the process of being translated (into Oromo and Amharic languages) and printed. Our Ethiopian partners requested these titles to minister to children.  Your generous support is providing this practical expression of love, discipleship and Christ-centered teaching.  This is one meaningful way to remain connected with the ministry of the Kale Heywet Church until we are able to be there again teaching in person. Through these 14 months of waiting, you have been able to assist several partners with tangible help. Please pray for Pastors Petros and Alex who are overseeing the project, “A Prayer Book for Children and Adolescents: Ways Children Talk to God Everyday,” titled below in Amharic:

Another way to stay in touch with our partners is through prayer. We recently hosted our first Zoom “BrookLink at Prayer” meeting.  BrookLink’s global partners were invited, and it was so encouraging to pray for and with them.  Lee and Terry were thrilled to be among old and new friends.  We were delighted to hear a first-hand report and update from Lee about his improving health. Thank God for such technological advancements that have softened the effects of this pandemic.

Global partners, board members, staff, facilitators and dear friends appreciated approaching the throne of grace together.  Our hour together was heart-warming, and we look forward to hosting another “BrookLink at Prayer” later this year.

Lord willing, we still plan on international travel later this year to Ethiopia, the Czech Republic, China, India, Uganda, Burundi and Rwanda. The open doors from our partners remain. In the midst of Covid-19, Christ is still building His Church. Training in the Global Church remains a vital need, and it remains the mission of BrookLink. Thank you for praying and for your faithful support.

Thank you for your concern for Lee since his surgery. He continues to recover from his back surgery.  While it has been slow, his physical therapist recently gave him permission to take short bike rides which he and Terry are enjoying as things warm up in Wisconsin.  Your continued prayers for them are appreciated.

In Christ’s Service,

President
