“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”
~ Ephesians 6:18

Dear Friends,

Your partnership with BrookLink literally means the world to us. Thank you for supporting us prayerfully and financially. We deeply appreciate you, and we look forward to being with you in person before the end of this year, Lord willing. Until then, you are invited to join us for “BrookLink at Prayer” on Thursday, May 6 at 7:00 pm CST. This gathering will occur over Zoom and will last for about 45 minutes. I’d love to have you join us in this short concert of prayer for the ministries of BrookLink. Please register by email request to Lindsey Hulstrom at lindsey@brooklink.org, and you’ll receive a link a few days before this important event.

The verse from Galatians 6:9 comes to mind during this season: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Be assured, dear friends, we have not given up!  While making plans to travel later this year, the ministry continues. Christ is still building His Church in the midst of this pandemic.  Like you, we know that nothing will stand in His way (Matthew 18:18).

God’s Word says that iron sharpens iron, and you are fanning the flames of these “irons in the fire”:

In Ethiopia, you are helping the Kale Heywet Church to translate and publish several books for discipling children. That project is well under way, thanks to your generosity.  Ethiopia has had a tumultuous political year, and your prayers for our brethren are needed.

Last month, your financial help enabled church leaders to attend a Pastor’s Conference in Mali (West Africa) through Ebenezer International, which is based in Mali.  BrookLink facilitators and former missionaries to Mali, Paul and Lisa Sinclair, have deep and abiding connections with the leaders of this ministry.

West African church leaders gathered to receive teaching on strategy and planning to plant 33 churches in the next 14 years in Mali. Pray for God’s protection as they follow His leading.

BrookLink’s Children, Youth and Family Ministry Team have found themselves in a podcast studio this past month.   This new endeavor called It Can Be Messy, was born out of a desire to meet parents with encouragement and insight as they seek to bring Jesus into the center of every day family life. You can find the most current episodes on their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/It-Can-Be-Messy-101131195394962 and soon you will be able to find them on our BrookLink website.  Stay tuned!

Jen Akin, Jan Ryder, and Leslie Osborne, each with many years of experience in Children and Family ministry, are friends who share faith conversations, in brief nuggets, around topics of listening well, knowing your kids, and growing as a faith-filled family.

As many of you know, Lee Heyward recently had his third back surgery. The recuperation has been much slower this time.  Please pray for him and his wife, Terry, for a full recovery and return to “normal” life. They keep their eyes fixed on Jesus, even in this tough valley.

Shepherding God’s flock is in Lee’s DNA, and he looks forward to returning to familiar pastures as his recovery progresses.

Jesus assured us that apart from Him, we can do nothing.  Won’t you join us for “BrookLink at Prayer” on Thursday, May 6 at 7:00 pm CST via Zoom.  Please RSVP today, and let’s approach the throne of grace together.

In Christ’s Service,

President
