“The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.”
~ Isaiah 40:9
Dear Friends of BrookLink,
You can be so encouraged when you consider BrookLink’s future. You are a witness, along with me, to what God has done in the past ten years. Now, at the beginning of a new decade, we anticipate the next great chapter that God is writing into our story, all for His glory.
Our volunteer Board of Directors is preparing an updated three-year strategic plan for BrookLink. It’s too early to offer details, but this is the right next step as we look ahead. Please add this to your prayer calendar. We need the wisdom and clear leading of the Holy Spirit.

The Lord has blessed BrookLink with a dedicated, talented Board of Directors. They share the light of Christ in their homes, churches and communities. Please pray for them as they serve Him and as they seek His will for the next chapter of BrookLink’s ministry.
Like hugging a friend you haven’t seen in a long time, our global partners welcome our return when international travel resumes. We are so eager to serve them in person. Along with our existing partnerships, new invitations arrive often. Pastoral training needs in the Global Church continue. We are, thankfully, well-positioned to offer this important instruction. Some of our partners are persevering in very difficult circumstances, like Brother A and his precious family. Would you please pray for their faith, for their favor with governing authorities and that their witness would glorify Christ and bring many to Himself?
Please also pray for Lee, as he steps back into his full-time role with BrookLink in 2022. Elmbrook has formed a search team to find a permanent Lead Pastor. After shepherding the flock at Elmbrook Church, he plans to take the reins again to lead this ministry that he founded and loves so deeply. When Lee returns, I will gladly resume my volunteer role as a BrookLink facilitator. Until then, I am grateful the Lord allows me to serve my dear friend in this capacity.

The Heyward and Lawson families go way back. Our friendship began during our seminary studies during the 1980s and remains a source of encouragement, delight and warmth, even as the Lord has taken us in different directions, then bringing us back together through many mountains and valleys. Pictured above are Lee, Terry, my late wife, Connie, and our children.
Please pray for Lee’s recovery from back surgery, which he had late last month. Lee’s first back surgery was in 1980, then a spinal fusion 10 years ago and now an additional fusion. All expectations are for a full recovery! Following this surgery, he also anticipates rotator cuff surgery. As Lee put it, “I’ve got some serious healing to do.” We need to pray for him and for Terry. Not only is her nursing experience a blessing to Lee recovering at home, but last month, she oversaw their move from their home of 35 years to another home nearer to their daughter, Becky, and her family. “She is a real trooper!” Lee says very proudly of his wife.

The Lord has used Lee and Terry since their days at seminary. Please pray for them during this season.
Thank you, dear friends, for standing with us in your faithful support, and especially in prayer. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God” (Phil 4:6). Would you take a few minutes now to pray for us? Thank you.
Shalom,
President
