RE-POSITION
“Indeed, none of those who wait for You will be ashamed.” ~ Psalm 25:3
Dear Friends of BrookLink,
Have you noticed how much people waited in the Bible? It seems like nearly every saint was positioned in a heavenly waiting room of some kind. Daniel waited in the lion’s den, Naomi waited in her little hut for God to give a new husband to Ruth, and Mary waited on a donkey while Joseph desperately found a place for her to deliver her precious Child. You get the point – God often asks us to wait, and waiting can be tough. But, God assures us that He is with us in the waiting room.
As we enter the Advent season, our hearts reposition themselves to the miracle of Christmas as we wait with joyful anticipation to celebrate the birth of our Savior. Do you remember the baby born before Jesus, and the couple who waited decades for his arrival? The story of Zechariah and Elizabeth demonstrates how swiftly and mightily the Lord can alter lifestyles. They were set in their faithful ways, and then God delivers a message that they would become new parents in their old age. Talk about a drastic repositioning! They were asked to wait some more during the gestation: Zechariah waited to regain his vocal chords, while Elizabeth waited in seclusion (with some great company, I might add) before giving birth to John the Baptist. Was he worth the wait? Jesus seemed to think so when He said, “…among those born of women there is no one greater than John.” (Luke 7:28)
Zechariah and Elizabeth were certainly put in a strange place, but God was faithful to His promises and John came to “make ready a people prepared for the Lord (Luke 1:17).” Perhaps you can relate to being found in a strange place, especially this year. Where have you had to make a shift to reposition yourself to trust God in the waiting?
Listen as our partner and friend, Pastor Khuram, expresses his deep gratitude for BrookLink’s support as he fell victim to COVID-19. “It was quite tough facing such a challenge. I am so thankful to BrookLink for supporting me and my family.”
Will you join us as we reposition our ministry to be faithful as Christ leads us in 2021? Lord willing, we will fulfil invitations to train in person in Ethiopia, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, India, Kenya, Ghana and the Czech Republic. God has opened a new opportunity to sponsor a pastors conference in Mali that will enable church leaders in several neighboring African countries to participate. Our partners in Armenia need our teaching as thousands of refugees flood into their headquartered city of Vanadzor, where Lee and Terry have taught. Until these important face-to-face engagements can happen, we want to feed God’s flock with gospel-packed teaching. We look forward to launching a series of recorded seminars addressing topics like trauma and healing, training children in the Lord and nurturing healthy family dynamics. We hope to have these seminars available on our website. Your gifts actualize BrookLink’s reposition vision!
Students at the Hindustan Bible Institute in India completely shifted to online learning this spring. Without your generous gift of several laptops, their accessibility to continue pastoral training would have been drastically paralyzing.
Will you help to reach the financial need of $230,000 by December 31, 2020?
God is opening unprecedented doors for His Word to be shared! Our humble partners continue to prove themselves faithful as they have faced challenges in 2020 that our first-world experiences can’t fully comprehend. Please consider making a gift today by visiting our website at www.brooklink.org/give. Your provision will directly impact Christ’s leaders throughout the world as He builds His church. Your gift of $200 enables one church leader to receive exceptional, seasoned training.
On behalf of Lee and Team BrookLink, I wish you every blessing this Advent season, and like you, wait with great anticipation for the glorious return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
“For no word from God will ever fail.” -Luke 1:37
Shalom,
President
