A NEW CHAPTER FOR BROOKLINK
Dear Friends,
“They preached the gospel in that city and won a large number of disciples. Then they returned…, strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith.”
Acts 14: 21-22a NIV
Happy autumn to you!
As you may know, BrookLink’s program is growing. As an organization we are hearing and following God’s call to expand our capacity. BrookLink’s facilitators conducted five training sessions this year already, and two additional programs are being taught in November 2019. These international opportunities are in addition to Lee’s domestic work with Elmbrook Church in Wisconsin. Because of this growth the Board of Directors has decided to seek additional staff leadership for the organization, after months of strategic planning, prayer and discernment.
On behalf of the BrookLink Board of Directors, I am overjoyed to announce that we have offered the position of President to Pastor Ian Lawson, and he has accepted. As President of BrookLink, Pastor Lawson will report to the Board of Directors and work closely with Lee, BrookLink’s Facilitators and operational staff. Lee will continue as Founder and Chief Executive Officer as well as being a member of the Board of Directors.
See below for a snapshot of Ian’s story, with more to share in the coming months:
“In the past ten years I’ve been privileged to capture a fuzzy snapshot of the global church. Serving on the board of Compassion Canada, plus boards of mission agencies, and having occasional teaching invitations globally, has allowed me to capture a glimpse of what God is doing. Jesus said, “I will build my church”, and he is!! And so, when Lee and the BrookLink Board invited me to consider this role it was an easy decision. I’m deeply honored to serve in this position while the Lord grants me good health. The mission of BrookLink and my passions appear to be a God ordained match.
We have no idea what God may want to do through BrookLink in the days to come. But I’m profoundly honored to allow the Lord to use my experience and abilities for his glory through this ministry. I look forward to meeting the friends and supporters of BrookLink in the months to come.”
Pastor Ian has been a steadfast supporter of Lee and BrookLink, including serving as a Facilitator. Please join me, as well as the BrookLink Board of Directors, in welcoming him to his new role, beginning January 2020.
We are on the move! We welcome your prayers as BrookLink prepares to travel to Ethiopia in mid-November to facilitate two 3-day conferences. Lee and Ian will conduct a pastors training, while Jen Akin and Jan Ryder will conduct a children and family ministry training. We are humbled and excited that God has granted us favor with an invitation to return to Ethiopia and equip our brothers and sisters in the Kale Heywet Churches. Invitations like these are evidence that God is calling BrookLink to expand our capacity. We are grateful for your generosity which allows us to say “yes” and follow His lead!
Blessings,
Louise C.N. Warren
Chair, BrookLink Board of Directors
