LOOKING AHEAD TO 2014

Written by Terry Heyward on Tuesday, 10 December 2013.

Dear Friends,

On Your Mark! Get Set! GO!!!!

When our grandson, William, who is a bundle of running energy, wants to run faster and faster, this is the phrase we use to start the race.

I have the feeling that it also describes our current season of ministry. Lee just preached the weekend services at Elmbrook Church, here in Wisconsin. Several days later, he was officiating the funeral service for a dear friend and colleague in ministry. He left late last week to spend a week encouraging and training church planters in rural Ghana.

On your mark…

We are getting set and ready to go. Someone asked a pastor how long it took to get his Sunday message ready. His answer was “10 years, 15 if I really have the time.”

As each opportunity presents itself, we find ourselves grateful to the Lord for the years of ministry that He built into our lives as preparation for these days. Some days seemed too hard to bear. Some days were tedious and disappointing, but nothing is wasted in the Lord’s economy. God uses all of our days to build faith and endurance.  As the book of Hebrews reminds us, “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.”

Get set…

As we continue to run, we thank you for your commitment to run with us. We are encouraged to continue on, as the Lord gives strength. The year 2014 is already being scheduled with opportunities to teach and train in places like China, Turkey, India, Uganda and South Africa, just to name a few. It’s probably no surprise to you that December is an important month financially for BrookLink. What you may not know is that most non-profits like us rely on this month for over 35% of their funding for the year. Would you prayerfully consider making a gift today to help us raise $100,000 in December so we are “set” for the opportunities in 2014? Thank you for giving, for praying, and for encouraging us to keep on keeping on!

Go!!!

(for the whole BrookLink team)
