Hot Off the Press
From time to time, Terry and I are invited to speak at area churches about the ministry of BrookLink. These occasions never detract from our work internationally with church leaders. In fact, engaging regularly with US churches always affords us opportunity to keep a pulse on the local church, to bring a much-needed global perspective, and to mobilize area churches for cooperative mission.
This month Terry and I met with a delightful group of believers who invited us to come talk about BrookLink. Second Place Church is a six year-old church located in the southwestern suburbs of Chicago (Monee, IL). This mostly under-30 crowd has re-purposed a local warehouse, transforming it into a place of worship. We met men and women joyfully engaging in God’s mission locally and globally.
My talk at Second Place Church was on “Life in High Defi-Mission”, followed by a lively question and answer time. If you have 30 minutes you can watch the video of the sermon on the Sermons & Videos page.
Back at home we remain involved at Meadowbrook Church in nearby Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. I am preaching through the book of 1st Peter, a series entitled: “In Between: Living Between the Already and the Not-Yet.” Peter’s first letter is a wonderful declaration of the grace of God and our need to stand firm in it. We invite you to visit Meadowbrook Church! For location and service times please visit their website. If you'd like to listen to my recent messages at Meadowbrook, we've posted them on the Sermons & Videos page.
Hot off the press! We have just released our newest BrookLink video! It is estimated that more than 60% of the world’s Christians live in the global south—in countries like India, Uganda and Peru—yet more than 80% of pastors in these areas have little or no formal training. Pastors called by God, passionate to shepherd their people, yet few have resources to enable them to effectively do so!
This inspiring 5-minute video, shot on-location during our recent training in South India, highlights the pressures and challenges many followers of Christ face every day and what BrookLink is doing to address this need. We invite you to watch the newest video and pass it along to others who might be interested. If you would like to receive a copy of the new video on DVD, please contact us.
Thank you for praying for us as we look ahead to 2015. We are already planning trips in early 2015 to the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Africa. Later in the year we are scheduled to travel to Greece, Uganda, and Turkey. Opportunities for ministry occur often so check the Ministry Calendar for updates.
Recently the members of our Board of Directors combined to give an additional and sizable monetary gift to help BrookLink. However, we still need your help to reach our year-end financial goal.
If you have never given to BrookLink, or if you haven't given for a while, would you please pray about making a year-end contribution? Help us finish 2014 in the black and set us up for the good work God has opened before us in 2015.
If you would like to become a regular financial partner with us, please visit the Get Involved section of our website to learn about the numerous ways you can partner with us!
When the Apostle Paul thanked the Christians at Philippi for their generous financial support, his concern was not just that his own needs were being met. His primary concern was that God’s blessing would be upon them—for having been givers to God’s work. Paul wrote:
The gifts you sent were more than enough, like a sweet-smelling sacrifice roasting on an altar, filling the air with fragrance, pleasing God no end. You can be sure that God will take care of everything you need, his generosity exceeding even yours in the glory that pours forth from Jesus. Philippians 4:18-19 (The Message)
This is my prayer for you—that your generous gifts not only bring encouragement and blessing to pastors and church leaders across the world, but that you yourself are being enriched in every way by our ever-generous God.
With deepest gratitude,
C. Lee Heyward
